  • Whale's Tail is a high, slabby, east-facing wall above a wooded amphitheater just south of the lake. Reach it by hiking up the trail on the west side of the canyon from the lake. Just past the first cliff that rises directly above the trail, look for a path that scrambles up through scrub oaks to the base of the left-hand face and left of a large ponderosa pine, this is a grat place to set up three routes side by side for all skill sets, good shade also.
  • Pockets a plenty (5.9) Excellent, long face climbing with plenty of pockets. Begin on the right side of face. Climb directly up the face to anchors above double pot-holes just below the cliff-top. 100 feet. 8 bolts to 2-bolt anchor. FA: Mark Tjaden and Brian Shelton, October 2004
