Yep. first gen. friends which had NO web attached. You had to rig your own when all available was 1 inch tubular. No supertape' back then. Some have been retied several times. Metal is great, no stress on the stems by me, ever.
My 57 year old climbing partner, White Gas Willy, likes to say that his are "Time Tested". I'm sure they're fine...I'm just givin' you a hard time. :) soooo, who gets yur rack when you, you know...go to the great bigwall in the sky?
