Very nice!! Now please lets get this up as a featured' photo right away!! Look at that perfectly good ice. Those gym shoes' with mono's are waaay too high tech for me. How do your feet stay warm in them all day?

Some models, such as Lowa, have insulation in them. I see a lot of guys will wear Sorels for the approach and then throw these on for the climb. These are Dan's and I was just trying them out for this route. The new ones have insulation and a carbon fiber sole (WAY light). Now I just need to save up the $500+ for them!

Well since I live over a thousand miles from any regular ice supply, and only have an average of 5 to 6 days ice conditions available nearby each year for the last decade or so, I'll have to stick with my '82 era vintage leather double boots and 1st. gen. Lowe Footfangs' for my footwork. Got plenty of other new tools and screws, but the boot/crampon combination isn't worth the money investment here. Watching it all melt away in 2 days of rain right now. Doubt if I get a day 2 of climbing in this season at this rate.

Bummer! these boots are made mainly for hard mixed/ competition stuff. La Sportiva has a modified Mega with crampons attached.
