It was runout and I'm still about 25 feet from the first bolt and then you climb about the same distance to the 1st belay station. I hate slab, as I told Badash back in the day. Unprotected slab is even worse.

Yep. It sure looks the same, no wonder you wandered off route. But they all look sweet. Imagine if it's a sport route it might be more important to be in-line with those bolts than trad' off-route where you could still place gear.
