Groups: 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell
Climbing at HCR Hell requires just as much night climbing as day climbing

You find you can send some pretty hard stuff after dark when you have to get at least one route an hour in for HCR 24 competition. Nat did find night trad a little spooky though.

Wow! I had to download and brighten it up alot to see that there was another climber just up and to the right of Nat in the center. Headlamp sport, maybe. Trad? Well, did they count if you did aid' the whole route?

No aid. All leading, if you fall you have to go back to the ground and start again. If you lead trad you need to pull your gear on the way down and your partner needs to relead. One exception is you can leave in your trad gear and have your partner pink point the route but then they score as if the route were a sport route. Nat found that leading trad at night is pretty scary. We only did two trad routes in the dark and Nat pink pointed those two.

Not sure of the scoring method. What, like double points for a trad lead, less for a sport one? That seems fair.

Trad leads are bumped up one level so a 7 becomes an 8 for scoring and a 10a becomes a 10b. Also get a bump if its an R route. We found out that most trad routes took much longer and the bonus did not compensate for the extra time.
