The lighting for my photog clinic was quite tough, though it forced us to be creative. With this hot, I noticed the harshly contrasting sun line and tried to make the best of it. The point of this photo is to draw the viewer's eye to the most exciting portion of the problem: The hold which is being throw to. This photo was taken by Steph (newbierockstar on RC.com)
If you look hard, she cut off the foot, but its not that obvious because the focus is the hold. Kind of cool huh?

Looks like a cool photo. I find that I have problems with light down here in the Southeast quite a bit. Do you know of a way to get around it or use it to my advantage?

Actually, that was the point of this photo for the clinic. We were trying to use the sunlight to highlight his face and hand (notice that he is facing the sun so we can see it (opposed to his face being in the shade).
I ALWAYS try to shoot in the shade.
Oh and that's totally my hands spotting.
