Beware the attack horses at HCR

We had HCR to ourselves on the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. But, the horses wanted some breakfast too. igottagetoutside was having a little trouble getting rid of our new found friends. The ranch dogs aren't even this friendly. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BAGELS IN THE BACK SEAT WITH THE DOOR OPEN.

This is great. I love that place. Did they finally leave?

After they scored a full bag of bagels we finally had to rattle some stuff at them to get them to leave. They wouldn't let us eat! They did not respond to throwing your arms up and telling them to leave. Noise finally worked. They woke me up earlier eating grass right next to my tent. I have one of the ranch dogs that has adopted me. She sleeps outside my tent on every trip and is there in the morning. Even the last time in pouring down rain she was there when I woke up.

a wonderful setting in the wild west as we imagined it as kids. I grew up wanting to be a 'cowboy', even had a job rounding up stray cattle on horseback when I was in 5th or 6th grade. But thank goodness I never got rode hard over to Brokeback Mountain!!!

The cowboys are HCR are REAL cowboys and it is a working dude ranch. When we were there last weekend one of them was going up to shoot a coyote that one of the goat dogs had injured. Wild wild west.

I got coyotes that enter my yard here too, but the difference is that in a residential suburban neighborhood, I can't go out and blast them with my firepower. That's the main difference between the 'wild west' and the 'western suburbs' of Chicago. No carry and conceal allowed here, damn it.
