This is Anykineclimb getting his first ascent of the Mega-classic Super Crack. This starts out perfect hands and then slowly widens to cupped hands. There were some Brits on it just before us and those poor guys had such big hands that the start of the splitter was thin hands for them and the cupped hands finnish was perfect hands. Man those guys had some big mitts. hahaha

that's cuz they're all bricklayers turned climbers like Don Whillens. That is one sweet looking crack climb. Hell of a long top rope. No wonder I see so many 80m ropes listed now on web sales.
climbingtrash says:
You can get away with a 60m on this route but a 70m is much nicer.

woodchuck07 says:
70 meters is my next rope, thats for sure. so many run out routes these days.
climbingtrash says:
I have a 70m just for the Creek. Works great until you jump on one of the 160 foot routes. *whoa*

woodchuck07 says:
160 in one pitch? yeah, think its back to 2 ropes for the 'rap off I guess. Just found a super lightweight Edelweiss 70m rope, 10mm, for under 150. Daym oil/petrochemical prices are affecting our sport as costs zoom up to 200 bucks for a dry 60meter rope.
I used to grab 'short rope' end cuts on sale, cuz most of our local climbs are leads/topropes less than 60 ft. Then you don't have to unravel a whole bundle of rope in the dirt when only the first 80 ft are being used.
Anykineclimb says:
my last day there we got on a looong route. I think it was bout 160. you had to find a stance so the belayer could pass the knot.
Anykineclimb says:
oh BTW, this route was stupid fun! its so long though I had to hang to rest!
climbingtrash says:
Which route was that AKC?

Anykineclimb says:
that last day we were on Fuzz
climbingtrash says:
Nice! The book says that route is 130. I didn't do either of those warm ups when I was at Way Rambo last year...all the frat boys and bettys from 'rado had the things plugged up ALL day. *posers*

ff113 says:
just buy a spool and cut it in half, then you got 100m.
woodchuck07 says:
Or buy a bigger spool and just set up one loooong 400ft toprope someday!
climbingtrash says:
A 400ft toprope? Now that I'd like to see.

woodchuck07 says:
Imagine pulling that rope through a tight Grigri'. Or giving the climber 'tension' with all that stretch. Better make that a spool of 9mm static line!
