The New River Rendezvous is a fun and friendly, completely non-commercial, three-day celebration of climbers, climbing and the New River Gorge. Gather with friends, relax, compete, play, laugh and climb here in the laid back atmosphere of Southern West Virginia.
Welcome to our Grassroots Channel! I'm pretty damned excited to see all the grassroots reporters posting up. It was great meeting those of you I met and hopefully, I'll meet more of you next year! This is the place to see and share stories, photos and videos of the weekend. Yourclimbing.com offered up some cool schwag for the best submissions. Check out the winners!

The Story

We had the pleasure of meeting Alan in Riverside, CA last month and we really hit it off. He donned a Klime shirt and pulled hard on some plastic @ the Thresh Hold Grand Opening. Unfortunately, we couldn't take him up on his margarita offer, but we do hold on to rainchecks!

The All Climbing blog is now on Twitter. Not familiar with it? Twiiter can be described as a cross between IM and blogging. With access from the web, IM, email, SMS, and mobile, it seeks to answer the question “what are you doing now?”
Twitter has morphed into an interesting social network where you can easily [...]

Interviewed at local climbing gym by BigLickU

Posted by tmarkiewicz on 6/30/2007 on tmarkiewicz's blog
Groups: New River Rendezvous

To get free climbing at my bouldering gym, I volunteer twice a month. The last evening I worked, two students visited for the first time while writing a story for a regional college web site called BigLickU.
A few of my comments were taken out of context (the gym does set routes and I most definitely [...]

Today’s climbing blog is the Bivouac Blog by Anne Skidmore. I found Anne’s blog while looking at some climbing art done by Emilie Lee. Check out Emilie’s work - it’s amazing.
Anne’s blog is pretty new so let’s hope she keeps posting on more New England climbing topics.

I’m starting off the new series with a blog that’s not quite pure climbing, but one from a company all climbers are familiar with - Patagonia.
The Cleanest Line is described by the company as a
weblog for the employees, friends and customers of the outdoor clothing company Patagonia.

I’m starting a new regular series of posts here at All Climbing called Climbing Blog Focus. It’s something I wanted to start last year, but wasn’t able to really get it going as there were so few real climbing blogs (especially ones updated regularly).
Finally, it appears that there are more and more dedicated climbing blogs [...]

NRR Wrap Up

Posted by jyoung on 6/8/2007 on jyoung's blog
Groups: New River Rendezvous

Yowsah! What a Rendezvous number five was, huh? We’re almost done digging out from the wrap-up to-do pile here in Fayetteville but we’re clear headed enough to have some guesstimates on various numbers. Here’s the skinny:

Number of Rendezvous attendees: Approximately 1200
Inches of rain that fell during the Rendezvous: 0
Inches of inches of rain that fell the day before the Rendezvous: .32” (hard to believe ain’t it?)
Number of Fayetteville businesses that experienced record weekends: at least 4
Gross funds raised: $14,500
Approximate net: $10,000

Deep water soloing banned at Summersville Lake

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (who built many of the man made lakes in this country) has banned cliff jumping and diving on all of its managed recreation property in the Huntington District in West Virginia. This area includes the popular Summersville Lake climbing area. Apparently, at least one climber called the office listed [...]
