October is fast approaching.. and in the Red River Gorge, that means two things: sending temps and Rocktoberfest, presented this year by Keen Footwear, Black Diamond and Mountain Gear. This year's festivities will feature the Reel Rock Film tour on Friday night; a climbing competition, dinner, and party w/bands on Saturday; and clinics w/sponsored athletes on Sunday. Mountain Gear is sponsoring another UCLIMB this year in Red River Gorge. The event will be based out of Lago Linda's and the climbing instruction will take place on the RRGCC owned Pendergrass-Murray Recreational Preserve. If you know anyone that is wanting to make the move from the rock gym to real outdoor climbing, this is the perfect event for them!

The RRGCC is looking forward to seeing you at the 4th Annual Johnny & Alex Crag Day being held at the Pendergrass-Murrary Recreational Preserve in Lee Co., KY. The JACD is an official Access Fund; Adopt-A-Crag event and in addition to the usual AF schwag there will be event t-shirts and raffle items donated by our event sponsors.

The RRGCC’s Red River Reunion 2008 event will be held on April 18^th & 19^th, 2008 to celebrate the coming of spring and the return of climbers to Red River Gorge, Kentucky for the 2008 climbing season. Friday evening April 18^th there will be a slide show @ Miguel’s featuring pictures from around the Red and last year’s Petzl RocTrip.

Registration is now open for the Petzl RocTrip at Rocktoberfest 2007 being held October 12, 13, & 14, 2007. Please visit the event registration website at http://www.rrgcc.org/roctrip_main.php and sign up ASAP. Clinics will fill up quickly and we also need to get a head count for meals. If you are planning to volunteer for the event make sure to sign up for that also under the Volunteers tab.

Torrent Open For One Day

The Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition will be holding an open Board of Directors meeting starting at 9am on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Torrent Falls http://www.rrgcc.org/announcement_detail.php?ann=29. Climbing at Torrent will be open that day for only for those ATTENDING the meeting. Please come join us at Torrent as we continue to move the organization forward and to also get in some climbing.
