I REALLY want to go back to HP40 this year, but I don't think I can. Maybe I can fly down there for LRC, I mean Stone Fort. But right now I think I'm planning on going back to HP40 for sloperfest in the Spring. Too bad I won't be able to get my "Badash" autograph in person............
Hey punk, thanks for NOT answering my question.. I'm not familiar with the triple crown event, (cept for horses) so, well, best of luck in all 3 of what you are gonna do.
oh, you were serious? LOL I thought you were just joking as usual!
the triple crown is just like the horse race (well, without the horses and stuff) or the Vans Triple Crown surf comp.
Its three separate outdoor bouldering comps but the scores are also combined for a cumulative score at the end.
read on my friend: http://www.triplecrownbouldering.org/
theres one comp next month and the last one in december. I did okay -- i got bumped to advance (which was good and bad -- good because i guess i am an advanced climber now but bad because i didnt know i was going to be bumped so i didnt get on enough harder ones)
Its weird -- im way too good for intermediate but not good enough for advance... oh well!
triple crown is the funnest competition ever. I love it. Seriously. It's hardly a comp... its more like a fun gathering of aLOT of climbers... we chill, party, climb, talk, and just have a good time...
I hardly focus in the competition part of Triple Crown.
Comps and their way of separating the talent are so wierd. For many sports it seems. I had the same problem in skiing. On a great day I would cruise the gates for a superb time, then get no medal and bumped up a class. There, my average times were not good enough to make the top 5, week after week. So if I intentionally sucked, I could get put down a class, then do good but get bumped back up. A vicious circle just to keep us out of the 'elite levels of sport, I say. They need to make us a special 'Ash-Chuck' class now don't they? ( hey, that's a cool word; think I will use it for a route name someday)
Heya!! For those of you who are going to HP40 this week for the Triple Crown, good luck! I am bummed that I won't be able to make it out to HP40 for the comp this year, but maybe next year. Do us all proud and climb hard. Tell the locals I said hi! And I hope to see a few featured photos of BadAsh on Skywalker or God Module next week.......... - http://www.paradoxsports.orghttp://vegas.smugmug.comhttp://www.coloradospringsrockratz.com
How about a picture of BadAsh on Team Chattanooga? I'm too much of a wuss to try that problem.
I am still bummed about all the problems I WON'T be able to try this year. I still have a couple of projects out there. Swirls, Mortal Kombat, Pope in a Cowboy Hat........
Do us proud, Ash! Do us proud! We're all rooting for ya!
HP40 was hard this year... they changed all the grades.... let me just put this out there: BUMBOY IS NOTTTTTT A FREAKIN V3!!!!!!! what the heck.... ridiculous!!!!
The thing about BumBoy is that you can watch 10 different climbers climb that problem 10 different ways. I think I tried everything short of a figure-four on that problem and still haven't sent it yet. I've seen it rated anywhere from a V2 to a V5.
So, whatcha climb? Have you sent God Module yet? Did you run into Ana? Are your fingertips still raw? I want to hear the trip report!
HP40 is the opposite of my style (BUT I LOVE IT) and i didnt want to get stressed about not sending hard so i took it easy and climbed what i thought looked cool -- hardly paid attention to the grades and didnt care about doing well in the comp.
it was soo fun. Yeah I climbed with Ana a few times... and i took pics of her on Marioche or however you spell it. (that v5 near Popeye)
I also did a night climbing photoshoot thing with Dan Brayack which was the highlight of the trip --- how can you go to HP and NOT night climb!? So during the awards, we were in the boulderfield...
