Since no one has started a new year post yet I'll do it. Post up and tell us how or what you did to bring in the new year.
Me, I spent it at my back door neighbors house. We had a ping-pong tournament, which my partner and I were quickly eliminated from because I suck at the game. Also had a big fire and burned a lot of the "party pallets" I've been storing for just such an occasion. I made Swiss egg bread (it's a tradition from my mom's family), ghetto weenies (my signature appetizer, little smokies wrapped in Pilsbury croissants) and SCORPION BOWL! (a tiki lounge drink consisting of gin, vodka, white rum, dark rum, 151 rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine) *whew* It's served in a large bowl and then consumed with a straw.
Here's a pic of Gimpsteez discovering the POWER of the SCORPION BOWL on new years eve...
(hope she doesn't hurt me for this) hahaha

Hope everyone had a good new year and may this one be better than the last. (seriously)

Eagerly waiting to read the next episode of The Power of the Bowl!!!
Me? Had a civil night. No champaigne, a glass of red wine, no incriminating photos even to share. The usual.
I had a 10 year streak of going to sleep early, then driving out to our ice climbs at 4AM to have the ice all to ourselves for the entire New Years Day. But climate change here in Illinois has brought that to a screaching halt. Gonna be 50 degrees by Sunday. on January 6th. I need to take a sip from the Scorpion Bowl I believe...

DD had a pajama party on new years :) we all went over and his house and played 'shot add-on' in his bouldering cave, the rule was you had to take a shot if a)you need beta on the next move or b)you tried the move without beta so you wouldnt hafta do the shot, and touched the wrong rock :D didnt really hafta enforce the rules since we were all drinking already anyway, which led to upside down 'campusing' on the hit strips... anyway, we also played board games, watched 'holy grail' and sat in the hot tub for a while, and i would say we drifted off around 4am, scattered about his lower level in sleeping bags. Then next morning pancakes and eggs... then everyone went home and napped i guess. except me, i had to work :(

MY NEW YEAR WAS AMAAAAAZING!!! I just spent 6 days on a bouldering rampage!!! I spent the whole week with this amazing photographer named Dan! =) I was actually CLIMBING when it turned '08! (night climbing, that is!!!) I even sent my first v8 just hours before 2008!!! So i guess i need a new goal!!!
woodchuck07 says:
Ash!@ Figured you might have got out to play over the holiday. So where all did you go for this boulder-fest? Any shots you can post up, or if Dan will, that would be nice.
Human Crashpad says:
Sickness! Nice job, 'Ash. During our project-bumbling in JTree myself and two friends watched a rented DVD on the photographer's laptop and shared a plastic cup of champagne and a mojo powerbar in our little hotel room at the Desert Inn, then celebrated the new year the next day with a little highballing before helping Madrock pack away the tents and shoes from the demo. Paradise, ladies and gentlemen. Being pulled back into the school life is deeply saddening. Cheers to last year and future sends in this one.
woodchuck07 says:
Crash! A belated Happy New year it sounds is in order, eh? Must have been nice to be out at JT for a spell. Be sure photographer posts up some of the action later, either here or elsewhere.

I went to a low key party.Yes I am Back. I haven't climbed in a while as it's winter here....a mild winter but winter. Last time I climbed outdoors was October. I broke my Leg shortly there after, so I haven't done a lot of climbing.
