My girlfriend and I will be heading for the mountains (around Boulder, Co) in early August. We will be there for one week or so.

We would like to do some moderate to intermediate sport climbing (i.e., 5.8 to 5.12) and some bouldering. On our "rest" days we would like to take some day hikes to some stunning views, and perhaps camp out in the middle of nowhere.

We've never even been out there, and know very little about the area other than that there are stunning views and loads of climbing. I am wondering if anyone knows any good spots? I picture my girlfriend and I having fun on different types of rock, bouldering in some cool places, hiking around to see awesome mountains and stunning crags, etc.

I am off to do some research ... but I know you Boulderites have the beta!

Thank you!

if you're interested in Sport, check out the Dream Canyon Guidebooks by Mark Rolofson. head to Neptune Mountaineering to get a guidebook and beta on hiking. For camping, theres some National forest camping available south of Nederland.

It's pretty warm on the front range, so I would recommend heading to Estes. There's great long routes, bouldering and sport climbing up there.

Thanks for the advice, Katie! I'll check out Estes. Rikki and I are habituated to extremely hot, humid weather, but a break from that would be nice. Also thanks to rcoisson and Anykineclimb. I will check those places out.

I am soooooo looking forward to this road trip!
