For Katie and anyone else:

I am going to Red River Gorge next week. The forecast is calling for rain the early part of the week. What areas are good to climb if it rains? 5.7-5.9 trad, 5.7-5.10 sport.

Thanks.

I wouldn't sweat the forecast that far out. There is always someting to climb even when it rains. The online guidebook at redriverclimbing.com - http://www.redriverclimbing.com/RRCGuideV2/ gives info on whether any particular route stays dry. _____________________________________________________________________ Support the Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition. Muir valley has a lot of good easy routes and also has some good areas that stay dry in rain. Im hoping to go finish my project down there next weekend.

Bum, save some energy for the big 'fest weekend too. Hope to be in town by the 10th

never let the threat of rain keep you from going to the Red, in fact we could use the rain... I'm sure Katie would concur

There is a carpool bulletin board up on the RRGCC site - http://www.rrgcc.org/roctrip_carpool.php Is Ana OK? Now that you mention it she wasn't at Climb Time Tuesday night like she usually is. _____________________________________________________________________ Support the Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition. Thanks for the Muir Valley suggestion. We climbed there, it rained, we stayed dry and had fun. Just some thoughts about my trip and climbing. Last week, my climbing group handed out its annual climbing awards. My friend won ice climber of the year, I won most improved. We aren't the strongest climbers in the group. But our most important climbing goal is to have fun. This past week we had a lot of fun. There was eight of us. Each day someone had a new personal achievement. Don was our crack master and one day he led two awesome cracks. The folks that knew how to climb cracks taught those who needed work on their jamming skills. Gary was psyched to be climbing for the first time in three years. Bob (our trip organizer) didn't care what he climbed, he was just happy to be out in a beautiful location surrounded by friends. Steve and I climbed an 11 clean for the first time. Jonathan was our rock star at Muir. We were all happy for each other and cheered each other on. Alex Lowe once famously said, "The best climber in the world is the one who's having the most fun." We were the best climbers in the world.
