I have a gift certificate for any pair of montrail shoes or boots. I have to send it in by dec. 30th. I either have to get a pair, or sell the certificate. How do you guys feel about their boots. Ive tried on a pair at EMS, but has anyone hiked in them before. Do you like them? If so, what kind do you think I should get, or who wants to buy the certificate (obviously for less than the boots are worth). I dont do a lot of heavy hiking, just basic trails and such.

I'd suggest getting approach shoes over boots. Lighter, more comfortable, just as effective if not more so for basic hiking and backpacking, and much more versatile. I've worn Montrail's D7's for weeklong pack trips, talus fields, manzanita swims, gully descents, and fourth class stuff, and they are champs!
