The last time I went home to Montana and saw my nephews, both of them showed great interest in the idea of getting in to climbing.  I was thinking that Christmas would be the perfect time to get them something to encourage their efforts.  However, it seems that everywhere I look online and in stores (at least in this area) it's all geared toward adults.  Sure, there is stuff for teenagers, but nephews are 8 and 10.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

How 'bout a "Future Climbing Trash" shirt?

I don't have anything made up yet for young boys but I could have it done in a jif...just my thought. (and self promotion haha)

hahha thats a funny shirt.

ummmm, what if you got them a chalkbag? or a quickdraw? or both? I know that before i climbed my parents got me a few locking caribeaners and i loved them... I was so interested and i got into it all...

and a chalkbag is a given... if you have a chalkbag, you are ready to climb.

Black Diamond makes a really good kid's harness, the Whiz Kid. And it looks really cool too. It's designed to fit kids from 35- around 110 pounds. Licentia Haud Vestigium

Kids outgrow gear too fast. BUT for the bargain price of 6 bucks, you can get them a Yourclimbing.com web t-shirt right now, and that's not a bad investment. Otherwise, harnesses and shoes go too fast on little kids. A fashionable chalk bag might be a starter item.

That's what I'm leaning toward.  Especially with the way these two have been growing the last couple of years.

Plain chalk bags also allow them to sew on anykind of design or emblem they choose, to personalize' it in some way. Hey, for like 20 bucks I think it was at backcountry.com or mountaingear, somebody had a nice over the shoulder tote bag for girls in the shape of a huge chalk bag. I got one for a 12 yr. old just recently. They're awesome
