Ever tried to get somewhere and no matter how hard you try, something puts up the wall?

My buddie and I have for 6 months tried to get to South Dakota for some monumental climbing. During that time we have been turned away by mother natures fury. The first time cbear and I wanted to head up to the needles and sylvan lake to do some of the areas classic climbs. Only to be turned away at 4 in the morning after checking the local weather up there. The good out of this was that we turned our tails to the storm and ended up in Moab, Fisher Towers, Ancient art. What a contrast. We have always seemd to get ourselves into deep water somehow and this was no different. We had really no idea what was there but took our chances anyway. The outcome was nothing sort of monumental. We hooked up with a worker at Pagean Climbing shop, after he found out we wanted to do something classic to the area. We offered to pay but he declined due to the fact that he cannot turn down a good climbing oppertunity, and at that point we took out Ancient art. The last time was no different. Scheduled to climb Devils Tower, Mother nature again said no. Last minute change and we ended up in Grand Junction to climb Independence monument. Epic to say the least. That is what I wrote on the check in log comments for the area before we took to the sand. Spat off by rain, hail and wind after 200' of ascent, that night proved to be challengin as well. The morning was excellent, we ate, and headed off to finish what we started, Otto's Route. After entering Epic part 2 on the log, we took to the trails. Arriving at base, we geared and headed up. Wind and all. this time we were not going to be deterred. In a nut shell we finished the route (with 35mph gusts) and headed to camp and rest for the last day. That night was no different to what we have face so far, we found ourselves Camped next to the "mccoys" were we had a night of blasting rap, oldest daughter being told to keep the clothes on with her boyfriend by the dad, and mother taking off drunk at night while boyfriend/husband (who really cares) yells "I love you." replied by drunken cussing from what's her name. To top it off our campsite sits on a butte surrounded with 200' to 300' cliffs on all sides. She came back safe eventually. We slept and headed home the next day. So we have yet been able to get to Sd as initially intended for 2006. 2007 is the year of the Tower.
