Although I have enjoyed the time I've spent living in DC, climbing at The New and hanging out at Sportrock, I'll be moving to Colorado Springs at the end of June. Having lived my entire climbing existence on the East Coast, I've heard rumors that there are just sick amounts of rocks to climb in Colorado. Looking for some beta on the best places to climb. Also, looking for some other climbers in the C-Springs area to hook up with. Thanks!

I'm not too sure about the Springs area because I've never climbed there, but there's Clear Creek, the Park, the poudre canyon. So many fun areas, the list goes on.

Garden of the Gods is a good start. Check out this site for routes
http://www.mountainproject.com/?cnredirect=COLORADO
and a good guidebook always helps.

garden of the gods is not super great rock...but for sure there is some good climbing in the area. I am in alamosa, 2.5 hours away and always seem to be in that area, let me know if you want a tour in the san luis valley.

I live in Denver, and climb alot at Red Rocks Open Space Park. You will need to stop by the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center to sign up, it's on the 2nd floor at the desk, and is free, the permit is good for the year, and allows you to climb in the Garden and Red Rocks. Red Rocks is located off CO.24, also called Cimmaron, on the way to Manitou Springs. After passing 31st Street, it will be around the curve and on the left. You can't miss it as it is signposted. If you want a guide, there are some available at the Visitors Center at the Garden of the Gods when you go to get a permit. The rock is of better quality than at the Garden, and the approach is only about 5-10 minutes on graded trails. If you ever go on a weekend, I usually make it there about twice a month, usually on Sundays. Give me a shout if you would like to hook up for some climbing.
Cheers!
P.S. The guidebooks' directions are not quite right. Go just a little further on 24 then it says. Otherwise, you will walk alot further than you need to, and will wind up at the top of the hogback.

The South Platte is awesome and stretches from Eleven Mile Canyon all the way up to the town of Pine, Clear Creek Canyon is great but most of the routes are 5.10 and up. RMNP is the real deal and there are sick climbs all thoughout, Eldorado Canyon is great and very crowded, Lumpy Ridge outside Estes Park is sweet. These are just my personal favorites but there are many more and what you heard about climbing here is probably all true. You could spend the rest of your life climbing in this state and not even come close to climbing everything, unless it's your job and your young. There was a phrase written in Rock and Ice awhile ago about Boulder talking about the climbers there and I can't remember it all but it talked about "grandparents and grandchildren alike climbing 5.13d's like there sidewalks" and "Colorado is a humbling hamlet indeed. You'll never be the best at anything here ever." It seems somewhat true, there are a lot of great climbers here so just remember to have fun and don't get caught up in all the ego's.

agree all over the place. Garden of the Gods has easy routes on soft flaky rock, but great routes up the harder quality stone. I love the place. Hear good things about this other area nearby, but haven't seen it yet. RMNP is awesome. Some 'hard' routes in the park of 20 years ago that allowed bivys, are now expected to be in/out and climbed in one day. Lumpy is terrific. Eldorado and Boulder canyons near Boulder have classic test pieces and tons of great rock to do. you will never run out of routes or climbers once there.
