Climbing South Carolina

Posted by gssettles on 9/10/2007

Hi All,

I am heading down to SC this winter and was wondering if anyone knew of some good places to climb. I will have some beginners with me so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Geoff

Where're you going in SC? The only real rock that I know of is Chimney Rock, but it's illegal to climb there. The best bet would be to head across the border to NC. The closest real routes would be either Looking Glass Rock near I-26 or Crowder Mountain near Charlotte. Either of those would have routes for beginners. Good luck.

Thanks. Any good guide books?

I think the one I have, I'm at work, is called North Carolina Climbers Guide or Climbers Guide to North Carolina.
