Clicking on pics to make them larger

Posted by climbingwall on 5/26/2007

I've noticed that on some pics, I can click on them to make them larger, and on some, I can't. What gives?
Cheers!

Probably just depends on the size of the image that was uploaded to the site.

Yeah, recall we are supposed to send 'em small. I sometimes forget to compress a 400kB photo, so it probably blow up if clicked.

OK, here's the photo scoop: When our system gets a photo, it resizes it down so that it'll fit on a webpage. But it also keeps the larger version (if there is one), and you can view that by clicking the photo. ... If you can't click the photo, that means that there's not a larger version available because the original is the same size.

Every once in a while you see a really small photo that someone has uploaded to the site, and you can't get a bigger view. That's not our fault -- it's that the person who posted it only gave us a small pic.

The system does set a limit on file size, too. (I think it's 1 MB.)

NO CT, you of all must know I only wish for a larger Hexnut. A #77 would be a nice addition to the flatbed truck I take to the cliffs.

Your words say Hexes but as I read between the lines, I know you really mean CAMS. But go ahead and keep typing Hexes if it makes you feel better...CAMS-CAMS-CAMS! (wow, that was incredible)

I already have my nice set of trusty late 70's Friends-on-stems, and am slowly updating with a few new cams purchased every month as of late. 2 dozen will be enough, 5" max so far. No funds yet for an Omega super-critter cam. Anyone ever notice that when you extend one of those things to full range, it looks like the evil monster coming out to eat you in the movie Alien'?

climbingtrash says:

Are you talking about the Omega link cam?

Not sure I see the alien thing.

woodchuck07 says:

yes, the link cam. it looks fabulous, but I'm one to figure I would rather spend the cash on 2 cams for 2 placements, thus more 'pro and further up the route, instead of one mega priced, magical cure-all cam for that ultra indecisive placement. I don't ever move that fast on a route anyway.

They have been recalled. Not a life threathing problem, but recalled none the less.
Cheers!

Where did you hear that CW? I was just on their site and didn't see anything about a recall.

REI. When GB was here, on one of our rain days, we were hanging out there, and asked if they had any, and the climbing associate told us.Something about one of the press-in parts was cracking. he said it wasn't a major problem, but all of theirs were pulled and sent back for repair or replacement.
Cheers!
