How's it hangin' enthusiasts? So, I have a question and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm moving to the Chicago area soon for a couple of months and I don't want to get out of shape. I know there are a lot of facilities in chicago; I've been looking at them online. My problem is I just can't seem to figure out which ones are worth going to. Also, if anyone knows of any good climbing spots, please share. I don't think I can go two months without climbing on rock.
Thanks guys!

I dont think there is any climbing in chicago as far as real rock. There is defiantely urban climbing! and as far as gyms, Hidden Peak is a pretty worthy gym. It is EXTREMELY small, but the people there are hardcore, and you'll defianetly stay strong. It is mostly bouldering, i might add... but like i said, the people there will keep you strong! (cough cough kasia and leslie 'ladlad' = STRONG SAUCE!) Ana knows. =)

Hidden Peak is good. That is where I went when I grew up in Chicago. The Evanston Athletic Club and Lincoln Park Athletic Club is also an ok place to climb. There are a ton of illegal retaining walls to play around on as long as the security cameras don't get you. Upper Limits in Bloomington is pretty sweet, but it is also like 2 hours away.

North or South or in the city will you be? Most good stuff is up north, as mentioned above. Down far south there is only one gym, Climb On, in Homewood IL. Very nice little spot, evening hours mostly. Reasonable day pass, multi pass or monthly memberships even. Nice restaurants within walking distance too. Otherwise, you've got nothing down here in south suburban area to climb. No local public rocks to climb, everyone near the city is lawyered up and afraid of litigation. Still a backasswards place to live for adventure sports, I can guarantee that to you. Best of luck.
