New River Rendezvous: Post to Win Cool Gear!

The New River Rendezvous and YourClimbing.com are teaming up to host a Grassroots Channel for this year's festival on May 18-20.

What that means: Competitors, participants and spectators alike will use this site as a homebase from which to share their photos, stories and videos from the festival.

As an added bonus, we're going to be giving away prizes to those who post the best stuff! Check it:

BEST PHOTOS: Post your pictures from the festival -- the comps, the workshops, the crowd, climbers stuffing their mouths at the Dessertapalooza, abstract pictures of a climbing hold, party blackmail-caliber photo ... ANYTHING goes! A week or so after the festival, the best 3 pics of the bunch will be chosen. Best photo winner shall receive a sweet Piute 20° sleeping bag from Mountain Hardware. 2nd place will get a $200 gift certificate from Patagonia. And 3rd place will receive a La Sportiva Pro Deal (discount card worth $300-400).

BEST STORIES OR BLOG ENTRIES: Word of mouth is no longer going to cut it. It's time to spread the word, the 21st century way (technology rocks!). Post your stories from the festival -- from the weird potential-psycho-killer you chatted up at the crag, to the way you felt after sending that long-standing project you fell from last year. ... Just post it. And out of those tales, we'll give the best author a $125 gift certificate from La Sportiva, and a runner-up will get a La Sportiva Pro Deal (discount card worth $300-400). Sweet!

BEST VIDEOS: You've put together an epic montage of festival footage, and you just know the guys at Sender Films would dig it if only they'd watch it. Well guess what? NO ONE's going to watch it unless you post it here! Post ANY video, from the rambling overview of the dyno comp to the 30-second clip of crash-pad sumo carnage. ("Did you see Brittany Griffith level Jim Donini!? Rewind it!") The producer of the best video will be the recipient of a $125 gift certificate from La Sportiva. Runner-up will get a La Sportiva Pro Deal (discount card worth $300-400).

BEST ACCESS FUND "BOULDER PROJECT" VIDEO: You've probably seen the Access Fund's Boulder Project short video with Chris Sharma. Notice how the Boulder Project website only has that one video? ... For New River Rendezvous weekend, we want you to grab a friend or stranger and make a short video for the Boulder Project! Borrow the theme from the Access Fund: "Climbers, the environment, and access are all connected." (But GET CREATIVE! Don't just mimmick the Sharma video.) ... Best entry will win an Osprey Aether 60 pack valued at $219 -- not to mention fame as producer of the latest Boulder Project video! (More details and advice can be found here.)
