Joby Post of the Week - Pop quiz in history class

Posted by Contests on 3/13/2007 in contests

Nobody likes a pop quiz...except for the members of YourClimbing.com!

When woodchuck07 ("the Curator") delved into the Annals of Rock Climbing History (otherwise known as "his closet"), he uncovered an old rack of gear that must've puzzled even him. Why else would he ask the community, "what the hell are these things?"

In actuality, he wanted to challenge our knowledge of yesteryear's gear. Always up for supporting a contest, YourClimbing got in on the action and promised a free t-shirt to the quiz's top scorer.

For catalyzing a whole heap of site participation (check out the 40+ comments and guesses it spurred), sharing a bit of climbing history, and for having the good sportsmanship to date himself by doing so, we'd like to reward woodchuck07 with Post of the Week honors.

Joby (our new Post of the Week sponsor) will award him a Gorillapod in the size of his choice.

Launch a posting frenzy with pictures of your strange and outdated gear, and next week you could win the coolest tripod on the market!

I humbly accept this award from the Academy, and would like to thank all those who supported me through those tough times when I could't even struggle up a 5.9 top rope problem. Age injuries can be a wicked thing(post 30 that means these days).

WHAT?????? You can still climb a 5.9 toprope???? How young are you? I thought you were close to my age.
Cheers!

OK, maybe I stretched the truth a bit,, that's a 5.3 toprope most likely. With rest stops. In 3 pitches please.

More Better.
