The 2007 New River Rendezvous has come and gone...but one last competition still remained - the best photos, blogs and videos! Event attendees shared their photos, stories and videos from the festival here at the YourClimbing.com New River page, and to make things a bit more fun, we held three contests for those that submitted their stuff. Without further ado, here are the winners!
PHOTO COMPETITION

1st PLACE: More photos were submitted than anything else, and the quality was superb across the board. But eventually, one emerged as the best of the bunch: ocean's bouldering shot of his friend Addie. Ocean scores himself a sweet Piute 20° sleeping bag from Mountain Hardware.

2nd PLACE: Coming in a close second is bmoore's pic of Nick Greenwell sending Apollo Reed. He'll get a $200 gift certificate from Patagonia.

3rd PLACE: dbrayack's bouldering pic from the photography clinic rounds out the photo competition in 3rd, garnering him a La Sportiva Pro Deal (discount card worth $300-400).
BLOG or STORY COMPETITION
1st PLACE: We received a few stories and roundups from the weekend -- the best of which was Brett Merlin's random thoughts of a first time visitor to "the New." As the winner, Brett nabbed himself a $125 gift certificate from La Sportiva.
2nd PLACE: Despite computer issues delaying her recapping ability, kasharp still managed to put up a fantastic summary of the weekend. As the runner-up, she'll get a La Sportiva Pro Deal (discount card worth $300-400).
VIDEO COMPETITION

1st PLACE: Okay, video cameras are allowed inside the New River Gorge, right? We just wanted to make sure, because we only got two short video posts - and they're from the same person! To put it mildly, the competition was slim. But, like Woody Allen says, "80 percent of success is showing up." And for doing just that, HighSkies740 grabs the win with her crash pad sumo wrestling vid. As the producer of the best video, she'll be the recipient of a $125 gift certificate from La Sportiva.
Thanks to everyone who posted, and congrats to the winners!

Why did dbrayack win third place if he didn't take that shot? He is spotting.

Good question, anonymous. We choose the best photos, and award those who submit them. As far as I know, the photographer isn't a member of the site; otherwise I assume that person would've submitted it. I also assume dbrayack got permission to use the photo in the contest. Thanks for chiming in!

He posts her first name, plus her user name for rc.com. I'm certain you can find her. I think it is an awful shame that she doesn't even know her photo won and that someone else is getting the prize she deserves.

Anonymous,
You're absolutely right. (I didn't realize he had posted her profile name on rc.com - there are quite a few posts for us to go through daily and sometimes things get overlooked.) I've contacted dbrayack to clarify who the photographer is, and the situation involving his posting of it.
We're trying to be as fair as possible here, but sometimes prizes and post attribution get muddled. So thank you for pointing this out!
