Sorry it's been way too long since I've been on here. I've had a super busy summer and I became even busier once I got to college. (this is gonna be the short version because I have homework that I still havn't done yet)

Just a little comparison. . .
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 3/4/2007 I have always loved reading up on the history of climbing, from the Red to Yosemite. Lately I've been looking through all my dad's old gear and photos and I just thought I would post a little comparison of just one generation difference in climbers.
New Climbing Site |
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 3/2/2007 Hey guys a friend of mine just launched a site that has been in the making for awhile now. It has pictures, videos, and reports from climbing trips. Its still working on all the kinks so stick with it and keep checking it to see if stuff is working. I'll be posting up dates on here about it and stuff. Heres the link: |
Hester's Competetion | |
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 2/25/2007 This past weekend I went to the Hester's Family Fitness competition. I always love going to the Hester's comps because they normally give out piratical prizes (i.e. sleeping bags, stoves, heaters, etc), once they hired a DJ for the comp, free Red Bull ALWAYS, and over 75 problems. This competition was no different from their past comps. The only thing that really kind of shocked me was the lack of people at the comp. Usually it's packed but I think there were a little less than 30 people present. There will eventually be pictures up at http://www.wiredclimbing.com/ by D. Lubbers, but the site isn't up currently.

Classifications of Climbers |
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 2/12/2007 Alright this is a cheesy paper I wrote for a class on the different classifications of climbers. I do realize I left a lot out, but I only wanted this to be three pages not a hundred. So take this as humerus work of literature, not serious. Rock climbing has become one of the fastest growing sports in the World and is beginning to become recognized in communities outside of the extreme sports: i.e. dirt biking, mountain biking, snowboarding, base jumping, etcetera. Along with the rising popularity, climbing is also increasing in the number of people climbing. Like any other sport, rock climbing has its different classifications of the people who climb. Rock climbing contains five main types of climbers: the Gym Rats, the Rock Jocks, Social Butterflies, the Weekend Warriors, and lastly the Dirt Bags. |
Rain Rain go away |
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 1/11/2007 Finally, a three day weekend. Unfortunately, for some reason or another, the weather looks gloomy for the WHOLE weekend. My plans were to drive down to Louisville, KY for Saturday, then drive to either the Red or to Horse Pens depending on how much driving I felt like enduring. Well looks like showers the whole weekend. Which automatically cancels Horse Pens, but the Red has some crags where you can stay away from showers. Whooo knows. One thing is for sure, my fingers are crossed for the rain to go away. |
Love the Community | |
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 1/2/2007 One aspect of climbing that never ceases to make me smile is the community. I mean sure every once in awhile there's a bad apple, but for the most part I'm happy to be participating in a sport that includes so many different types and categories of people who just happen to get along. Over break I was dragged to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to visit and help remodel my grandparent's first floor. At first I was crushed because I was being forced to forget about one of the biggest breaks from school, for which I was planning three separate climbing trips. After about four or five days I began to feel imobile and slug-like and really desperately needed to get out of my grandparent's house. So what did I do? I looked up 'climbing gyms' in the yellow pages (my grandparents don't believe in the Internet). I found Adventure Rock Gym and remembered competing there a few years prior for a divisional's competition. After about 45 minutes of trying to find my way there I stumbled upon the Gym.
There goes my climbing trips. . .
Posted by Universal Rhythm on 12/19/2006 This past weekend I ventured out to Louisville, Kentucky to spend the weekend with my boyfriend and to exchange Christmas gifts. The weekend went like it was supposed to; gift swapping, climbing, and all the other hanging out and stuff. Unfortunately the weekend couldn't last because my school decided to make us go back for two days before letting us off on break. So Sunday night at 5 o'clock p.m. I start on the 4hr trip back to Columbus.
