Talked to my climbing partner tonight ...

Posted by mikitta on 8/17/2007

He's a great guy. You know, just one of those people who's a real salt of the earth type. He loves climbing, too. I think we could chat for hours about our kids, about climbing and about just stuff.

After we are back from our vacation next week (hubby and I are taking the kids to King's Island for a couple of days), we plan on getting together to do some bouldering. He says there's this nice little area about half an hour from here. I'm looking forward to discovering this place, because it means I will be doing more bouldering this fall than I had previously planned on.

There's this rock ...

Posted by mikitta on 8/15/2007

It's just a little rock, some roadside choss, really. It's on the back country road I take to get to my little country drive. I've been eyeing it for some time and it looks good enough to boulder on. I plan on going the first day the kids are back in school. Since they only go half a day, being close to home is perfect. I'll take a picture of it so I can post it up. The worst that can happen, I suppose, is that I'll pull all the choss down on my self LOL.

God Bless,
mik

Thinking toward the fall

Posted by mikitta on 8/15/2007
Kids are great - this is my son's artwork from when he was 4 ...

School starts up on the 27th of August for my kids. I like when they are in school because I get some much needed solitude. I never realized, before I had children, how much I really need alone time to recharge. When I get that now, I really appreciate it.

I've decided that on their first full day back, I'm heading out to Cooper's to do some bouldering. I downloaded an area guide so I can find my way around. I don't own a crash pad, but that never stopped me before. I'll just have to not go higher than about 6 feet off the ground :)

Frustration and climbing

Posted by mikitta on 8/7/2007
Our road before the state fixed it (the creek used to go down this as well as cars)

I used to live in Laramie, Wyoming. A short 15 minute ride to the top of the pass led to Veedauwoo, my rock home for nearly 20 years. I enjoyed that proximity to the high quality, Precambrian granite off widths and cracks the area is famous for. Perhaps I didn't appreciate my fortunate circumstances enough.
