New River Rendezvous = Awesome

Groups: New River Rendezvous

So this blog is about a week late due to computer screwy-ness... I'm hoping that it stays on long enough to post this and hopefully all the awesome photos that I got from the Rendezvous.

I don't know about everyone else but I had a BLAST.

Headed over to Burnwood Thursday night to visit with some friends that were already camped out and the place was already packed. I'm used to there being a handful of tents set up and a few cars but it looked like everyone was so excited about the weekend that they showed up early to get the party started.

Friday was cold and rainy ... not great weather for climbing, but it cleared up a bit in the late afternoon so that everyone could walk around and browse the vendor tents, practice some slacklining, and start waiting in line for the best part of the first day of the Rendezvous ... Dessert-a-palooza!

!!New River Rendezvous!!

Groups: New River Rendezvous

Well, I'm headed back to Fayetteville tomorrow for the New River Rendezvous! I was just out in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia this past weekend, came back to DC for 3 days, and now I'm headed back west :)
The climbing last weekend was kind of weak, though that was definitely the fault of the climber (me) and not of the gorge-ous rock. [get it... New River GORGE-ous? :-P] So hopefully this weekend will fair better for me, though I suspect I won't get in as much climbing due to all the festivities. But that's one of the good things about living at the New for the summer - I can climb whenever the fancy strikes me. So I'll leave this weekend to duct taping myself in a crash pad and battling it out sumo style [and hopefully lasting longer than I did last year], falling off of a slackline and getting trash talked by kids half my age, pigging out on delicious home made desserts, cheering on my friends in the dyno comp, and volunteering my little butt off. It's going to be a blast! :-D
