NRR Wrap Up

Posted by jyoung on 6/8/2007

Yowsah! What a Rendezvous number five was, huh? We’re almost done digging out from the wrap-up to-do pile here in Fayetteville but we’re clear headed enough to have some guesstimates on various numbers. Here’s the skinny:

Number of Rendezvous attendees: Approximately 1200
Inches of rain that fell during the Rendezvous: 0
Inches of inches of rain that fell the day before the Rendezvous: .32” (hard to believe ain’t it?)
Number of Fayetteville businesses that experienced record weekends: at least 4
Gross funds raised: $14,500
Approximate net: $10,000

NRR Highpoints

Dan, the helo landing is crazy. I hope the guy's alright. Sounds like he has a long recovery ahead. Everybody, I'm loving the photos! Can't wait to see the stories start to crop up, too. Here are my Rendezvous high points:

1. Meeting Malcolm Daly's son, Mason.
2. Randomly running into my old friend Lynn Willis of the Boone Climbers' Coalition.
3. "El Guapo" the squirrel.
4. Okay, I'm standing at the NRAC booth trying to sell out our stash of comp T-shirts, when a guy and two women come up. I explpain that the size pickins are slim, but they browse anyway. One of the women says of a women's T-shirt, "He's about my size. Want me to try it on? It's girls', but he'll never know the difference." At this point, I'm thinking ten or twelve year old boy. I ask, "How old is he?" The response: "Fifty-five." Hahahahaha!
