“Damn! I don’t get reception out here!” as I said as the cell phone beeped with the no reception sound. We were at the old man cave welcome center as I walked back to the car. We were planning a day of climbing and we decided to just go to the climbing area and hope they were there. I watched my cell phone in anticipation hoping I would get one bar. Up and down, left and right through the hills we went and no luck. I gave my lost cause up hoping for a bar and enjoyed the scenery as we got closer to the climbing area.

My brother, Ryan has been wanting to lead for a while now. Just recently he started trailing a rope with him on one of the toprope walls with clips and he has been making amazing clips since the begining. And as an older brother, I was excited that he would be allowed to take the lead class(he is 13 and for the lead class you need to be 14). Today he took the class. After about an hour of learning proper techniques of clipping and trailing the rope a few times, he took the final test. He looks calm but i could see the fire in his eyes. I took the honor of belaying his first lead.

I was wondering if i could climb with someone planning on going to the meeting. To climb there all you have to do is attend the meeting there at 9am this sunday. It is free as far as i know. let me know if you will be in the area!

woke up early. got picked up and picked up dylan then we were off.
i wasnt sure what to expect for my first time climbing outdoors so i was kinda nervous.
