Okay, so I didn't make it to Tahoe...seriously, do you know how much gas costs out here? $4.69. It's crazy.
Crazy, and not in the SD budget. So instead we hit up the climbing gym this evening.
And....drumroll please....that's it. That's my story for the day. I got nothin' else.
I think some folks are coming down here to go climbing this weekend so hopefully it'll be super exciting. :) Plus, I need to find a climbing partner to go check out the cracks at Mt. Woodson SOON.

Things are humming along here in SD as I get settled. My room is all comfy and homey, albeit a bit sparse. My roommates are AWESOMe and are psyched to try rock climbing. I've been out bowling in downtown SD, I've been to a surf competition/concert, I gotten WICKEDLY sunburnt, I'm getting a surf lesson today (!!!!), I've been running on the beach, doing yoga, and tomorrow I'm heading to Tahoe for a few days of climbing with my dear friend Ceedy-Wan-Magoo-Wright.

More to come soon. Maybe even some photos, if I could find my camera... the things you misplace in moving.

Black Mountain

Wow! Check out the new site. Super swanky. What do y'all think?

So, I spent the weekend at a place called Black Mountain, up near Tahquitz. Got to climb with a bunch of Cali punks who found immense pleasure in the fact that I don't own a crash pad (anymore -- it wouldn't fit into the Ford Focus in the big move). Every time I started climbing there were comments such as:
"Maybe you should wear your harness. You might feel more comfortable."
"I think you might need to stop and clip there."

Bouldering

How do I write a blog about a bouldering area that's secret? Well, secret as in private property.

I guess you don't. So, suffice it to say that I went bouldering, somewhere in the southern California area. It was super fun granite, shredded my tips, and well, other than that I take the fifth.

Now I'm off to Moab to retrieve the rest of my stuff and officially move. Yup. It's happening, and I'm psyched!!

Okay. Truth? About why I haven't been posting very often lately? Well, I'm actually in the process of moving to southern California. Why, you might ask. Well, to quote America's newest annoyingly addictive smut television show, Gossip Girl, "that is a secret I'll never tell." Okay, I'll probably tell, but just not yet. In this world of cyber-space, cyber-talking, cyber-banking and cyber-stalking, it's tricky to keep a secret. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I know I haven't posted in a while. Things can get a little out of whack when you're on the road and the little things sometimes fall by the wayside. I've been in San Fransisco for about a week now, visiting my good friend Amy and riding the public transportation from Berkeley to downtown SF. Let me tell you, for a small-town girl, it's pretty exciting. I've seen some pretty crazy stuff. I found myself unable to walk in a straight line because I would be constantly gawking at people and things. I mean, SF is kindof a world of its own.

So, my friend Lisa is always telling me that there's so much to Mill Creek, and really, I've never really gotten it. I mean, I pretty much just go to the Wicked Crag, and it doesn't seem all the extensive. So where was all this fabled climbing?

The Loop Road

Yesterday I decided I needed a change of pace, so I decided that I was going to do a classic road bike ride here in Moab. The ride is about 65 miles and it goes up past Mill Creek (5000 foot gain), then loops around through Castle Valley (past Castleton Tower) and down the river road, past Big Bend.
