Maybe its just me, but I find the forum section on supertopo.com has a negative vibe to it. I've just been checking in to this site for about a month now and I will start off by stating that I have read some interesting some on some of the topics but I've also seen alot of negative postings. I've seen photos of horse crap and other user's name associated with it, racist slurs, and general hatred between community users being thrown back and forth. I also notice that a significant percentage of the posts have nothing to do with climb or other related items (tons lately have been political and I account that to the recent elections).
Overall I'm disappointed in what the forum section. I had heard lots of references to it and I had bigger expectations. I really enjoy the vibe and the positive community hear at yourclimbing, you all seem to be much kinder.

Hey cbear - eat *#&%!
Just kidding. Thanks for posting. I think any forum that gets to a certain level of size will experience a variety of posting attitudes. If you can ignore all the negative stuff, there is some good info being exchanged on there.
Having said that, I agree that the vibe we're building here is great!
Anyone else run into the bad juju on supertopo?

Haha, ok cbear, what's your name on the taco? I must confess to lurking there frequently myself, though almost never posting. Usually you can tell what to ignore by the subject, but you have to admit that threads like the ones with all the Stonemaster stories are great! I love hearing about mass assaults on scary first ascents at places like Tahquitz; it makes me feel like a kid being read bedtime stories again. But yeah, that forum can degenerate quickly.

On all the sites it is like that. You get enough people posting stuff and youll end up with some good articles mixed in with a lot of genuine crap. This site is good so far and maybe it will be the exception, but im sure youll see stuff like that on here occasionally as more people sign up.

I've only been on the Souportaco a couple of times but have noticed the negative ego vibe there. RC.com has a few as well but there new site sucks so I think I will be spending some more time here.
