so i'm a seventeen year old and i cant afford all this fancy climbing equipment such as... everything basically. and i've really been getting into bouldering lately and cant afford a decent crash pad. as much as enjoy falling on the bare ground i was wondering if anyone knew of any good alternatives. thanks

Old mattresses work of course, but not too mobile. Instead save old couch cushions. Find the most ginormous (yeah, that new word!) the biggest industrial strength garbage bag you can find. Stuff 2 or 3 inside and pile 'em up for your pad. It should hold up for a few outings. Old carpeting chunks rolled up is good, but not as easy to carry. I'd get a 49 dollar pair of starter shoes instead, and spend the rest on a holiday sale crashpad if you can.
