YOURCLIMBING IN SALT LAKE CITY: Inside the Outdoor Retailer

Last weekend, YourClimbing.com sent editorial and community manager Neal Young to the big (seriously, BIG) Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City.

Strapped with a camera and fueled by endless amounts of free coffee, he roamed the show floor for four days shooting daily summaries of what went down. Be sure to check out all the products, people, dogs, "yoga," beer, death defying stunts and shenanigans here!

ROCK TALK: On the move

YourClimbing.com's enthusiast-in-chief Katie Brown spent a few weeks back in Moab after her South African Safari before once again hitting the road. The new destination: The Great White North!

While in Moab, she and her crew spent their days beating the heat with a little shallow water soloing and finding shelter from the rain with a little woody action. Then the perfect little respite from Moab's unfriendly climbing climate appeared on the calendar, as she got behind the wheel and ventured off to Salt Lake City for the giant Outdoor Retailer Summer Show.

With the show's debaucherous and lengthy nature taking its toll, decision time came for Katie - back to the unbearable heat of Moab...or make a run for the Canadian border?

Within a day the answer became clear: point the car north and don't stop until Molson becomes the drink of choice, the healthcare is free, and people start telling you to "take off, hoser." Final destination: Lake Louise.

FLICK O' THE WEEK: Ypsilon Mountain - Blitzen Ridge

The latest Flick O' The Week brings us to the great Rocky Mountain National Park. Community member Andy posted this video of an assault on Ypsilon Mountain's Blitzen Ridge. Andy and his friends tackled the route (which he describes as "a few mid 5th class moves here and there but mostly it was class 4 scrambling or 5.easy") last week, and now you can check out the spectacular scenery, too. (As usual with Andy's flicks, it's set to great music.)
