ROCK TALK: Tale of Two Climbers

There's not enough space to begin compiling a list of reasons why we love climbing, and why we love climbers. Rather, let us compare a description of two climbers for an explanation of what makes the sport, and its athletes, so charming. (Bear with us.)

Climber #1 - The Worldly Pro: Famous and sponsored athlete. Champion and record-breaking climber. World traveler. Published author.

Climber #2 - The Total Dirt Bag Junk Show: Forced into rope soloing because they can't find anyone to climb with; has made solid plans to travel abroad to climb a famous crag, but doesn't know where that crag is or how to get there; lives out of a compact hatchback.

The fact that both of these climbers are actually the same person, and that person is YourClimbing.com enthusiast-in-chief Katie Brown, is all the reason we need to continue believing that climbers, all climbers, are the coolest people on the planet.

This week's double feature kicks off with a comprehensive documentation of what it's like to climb Long's Peak (Colorado). YourClimbing.com community member Andy and his friends used the Notch Couloir ascent to climb it earlier this month, and captured it all with entertaining and beautiful footage.

Our second film feature comes from our very own Katie Brown, who filmed Lisa Hathaway working the Tiki Man (5.13c) in Mill Creek, Utah. It documents the step-by-step process that is a "Day in the Life of a Project."
