The Warriors Way Training

Posted by cbear on 11/9/2006 on cbear's blog

Does anyone know about The Warrior Way mental training? (www.warriorsway.com) I see they have books, classes, seminars, etc. Has anyone taken/read any of this? It sounds interesting; especially building my mental strength when I'm on the sharp end of a climb.

Thoughts?

Well, Arno Ilgner was my first climbing coach when i started climbing in 2004. He and this guy named Jamie Dial were the coaches for the Climb Nashville Climbing Team. We didn't really get into the real warriors way, because we were just a bunch of kids that our gym was trying to form into a team. I WILL say that the man behind the Warriors Way, (Arno Ilgner), is one of the most intellegent people I know - he takes climbing and forms it into some deep, deep stuff. It's all mental to him. He is an incredible teacher... I think that any of his courses will help anyone, both physically and mentally. Have you read his book? I've read parts, and it's pretty deep. I highly recommend getting involved in the Warriors way, whether it be reading the book or taking a class / seminars. It will help for sure... especially mentally. Hope that helps.

I too have read parts of the book. Arno's approach to mental training is awesome. I too highly recommend it.

A lot of the stuff in his book is so basic, but you dont really think about it when your on the rock. But like badash said, some is very deep. 10 people could read the book and all get something completely different from it. But all 10 people will get something from it. Its worth the few bucks to buy the book, and if there are seminars and classes, Im sure they would help as well.

The Rock Warriors Way is an excellent read. It definitely helped my climbing. The book puts together a lot of ideas that before were very difficult to describe. Pick up a copy read it once through and then read it again taking notes here and there. The more you read this book and use the concepts described the better of a climber you will be. If you get a chance to see him speak I would recommend it.

Thanks for all your input. I'd heard good things about it and all your input has been positive too. I think I'm going to start by reading the book.
