I love the exhilarating, zen-like effect that climbing has on me. When scaling up a wall, it is as if all of the conflicts in my life temporarily disappear and the only thing that matters is a single movement of my body to hold on to a piece of rock. I love the intense focus, the perpetuating concentration, the endless trance. Climbing is truly meditation through movement. Everytime I climb, I feel like I understand myself and my purpose with extreme clarity. Every movement is inevitable turned into a tunnel-vision goal, which is achieved immediately almost every time, over and over and over again. I don't know who, what, or where I would be without climbing. It is what I live for and what I will be doing for the rest of my life.

Thank you, Jimn... I am honored that you would compare me to her... I heard she was a vegan. SO am I!!!!!! She is one of my heroes for sure.

So does that mean your favorite pizza at Miguels is the sweet potato, portabella mushrooms with a ton of green peppers? Mine too!!

Ash, I trust you have already read Steph's book 'High Infatuation'. I love her subtitle 'a climber's guide to love and gravity'. It's a nice philosophical read at times. Small enough to fit in your back pocket and read while holding the belay job gri'g' during a long session of dogging' a new route. ( better than falling asleep on your leader). Yeah, I can see you living out of the back of a small truck somewhere between Joshua Tree, Moab and Red Rocks some day.

woody, nope, ive never even heard about it. Where can i get a copy? I still need to buy a copy of Katie's book!!!
and thanks Cap'n, i will check that out. Bill Ramsey left a message on my phone not to long ago because Ben (you know, from yourclimbing) left his phone somewhere and i guess he found it and called the person in the contacts... which was me. I didn't realize it was him until a week later when Ben told me. ha.

I preordered mine last year right from the publisher as it came to print. Go to www.mountaineersbooks.org and I'm sure it is still featured there. I'd loan you my copy but it's full of my usual cynical comments in the borders. I always write in my books.
As for vegan vs. vegetarian, well I'm all for healthy veges and such, but I gotta have my calcium with piles of cheese on a pizza. It's for healing my elderly bones, since the break last month. 12 more days and I'm out of this cast!!

Oh and woody, i've never been to Miguel's as a vegan. I went there as a vegetarian, and got different ingredients every time.
Now I'd have to go with a no-cheese pizza with green pepper, banana pepper, mushrooms and onions... or something like that. (i wonder if they use eggs in their crust? or bake it with butter hmmmmm i should ask)

Like Lisa Simpson said - "If it casts a shadow, don't eat it."
