Red Rocks - 2006 part deux

Posted by CrazyGil on 12/19/2006 on CrazyGil's blog

Just flew in from Las Vegas, and boy are my arms tired (literally).

Flew out to Vegas Thurs evening (Dec 7) with a great group of friends. After touchdown, we piled into two mini-vans and headed straight to In and Out burger. Having our fill, we headed to the hotel (Binions) and crashed for the night.

Friday morning we head to Black Corridor and nearly sent everything below 5.11. Conditions were perfect, even in the shade. We were practically the only ones there. That evening we 'closed down' Myriads and rolled back to the hotel.

Saturday, the traddies split from the sporties. The sporties met up with our Vegas resident guide and headed to a new spot, Valley of Fire. Weather was perfect, and of course, we were the only ones there. The traddies were running late, as usual :-p , so the sporties headed out for great Thai food.

Sunday, and rain hit Red Rocks. So after checking out the hotel, we all met up with our resident guide and headed North to the limestone rocks of the Gun Room. Again, couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, and we were practically the only ones there. Having a full day of climbing, we head back to town, eat our last supper, and prepare for the red-eye trip home.

Arriving bright and early Monday morning, half of the group went home to crash, the other half headed into work. Me... I headed into work... but left around noon to go home and crash. :-)

Having been my third trip to Red Rocks, I couldn't have asked for a better group of people go with. Definitely can't wait for next year!
