Mud Wrestling

Posted by katie on 12/17/2006 on katie's blog

The Fisher Towers are about 20 miles north of Moab, near Castle Valley. They're basically huge piles of solidified mud. Some visiting friends of mine decided that they needed to climb a route in the Fishers, where I have solemnly sworn to never climb. The day was absolutely freezing, but I met them out there for a nice hike anyway. Then, I proceeded to watch as they summited what I believe to be the world's smallest tower. Let's just say that I was perfectly happy watching from the ground as they "chossineered" this fabulous line. At least it made for a pretty picture.

Most likely because it's chossy

I believe that is Ancient Art behind it. Can anyone tell me if that is true or not?

I am fairly certain you are correct.

Yes, I swore to never climb there because it's notoriously chossy, given that it's basically mud. I think I might have to go back and climb Ancient Arts now though...

Ancient Art is well worth it. It is so amazingly beautiful and it has been climbed so much that it is pretty solid.

I was on Ancient Art this summer. 100% choss. I seconded it... and was terrified of the choss falling on me. Once we got to summit... excellent and well worth it (worth it for me as a second, the leader swore it would be his last time.)
