CALLING ALL CSROCKRATZ! !!!!Red Rock Open Space Climbing Comp!!!!!

Posted by Rockratz on 7/26/2007 on Rockratz's blog
Groups: Colorado Springs RockRatz

THE ROCK Climbing Center, the Front Range Climbing Company and the Friends of Red Rock Canyon are proud to present the second annual Red Rock Redpoint outdoor climbing competition. The competition will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Red Rock Canyon Open Space in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Competition Details
Location: Red Rock Canyon (Colorado Springs)
Date: Saturday, August 25
Pre-registration: Call (719) 481-9099 or info@climbingtherock.com
Registration: 9 AM
Competition: 10 AM – 3 PM
Cost: $30 ($25 if pre-registered by August 17)

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd place in the following categories:
Male Advanced Female Advanced
Male Intermediate Female Intermediate
Male Beginner Female Beginner
Youth Male (14 and under) Youth Female (14 and under)

The competition will use the “Redpoint” format which means that climbers must reach the top of the climb without falling or weighting the rope. However, they do not have to do this on their first try. Even if a climber accomplishes this on his or her 20th attempt, he or she will still be scored for the climb. Competitors will have five hours to complete as many climbs as they want although they will only be scored on their top ten climbs. Climbers must provide their own belayers and equipment.

The competition is open to all ages and abilities although participants must demonstrate the ability to climb safely outdoors.

A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Friends of Red Rock Canyon, an organization that has been instrumental in developing and maintaining the park for climbers and all other users of the open space.

For more information, contact THE ROCK at (719) 481-9099 or info@climbingTHEROCK.com.

If you are interested in going please let me know. I would like the CSRockratz to have a nice showing..

Oh, it's on like Donkey Kong!!!!!!

But little unsure of the format. Understand it's a redpoint comp. However, do you have to the routes on lead or TR? If TR, are the ropes already set-up or do you have to have a rope gun set it up? Is there a handicap for Red Rock Canyon "locals?" Will there be cool T-shirts? Will I get a chance to win a cool Blue Water 9.4mm rope or a brand new Flashed Ronin Crash Pad? Where's the after-party at? Who's the DJ? Will Rock and Ice be covering? Will Chris Sharma be there to autograph posters?

Seriously, who's the person running this? I know pulling off a comp like this takes a lot of effort, and I have some people I can call who might be able to help out with schwag, with door prizes, etc. If you can point me in the right direction, I'll see what I can do.

Last years after party/ awards presentation was at Kinfolks in Manitou. Vegas, I'm sure the crew at The Rock would be stoked for any extra schwag. oh and the format is for Leading (red point)

The CSRockRats are working with The Rock for this even. We have a couple of ideas but i need voulenteers that are not gonna compete. For:

1. Belayers for competitors.
2. The CSRockRatz are going to set up a top rop area for kids or adults to try climbing.
3. General help at the Comp.

This is our shot to get our name out PLEASE PLEASE we need people to come out and help. I am contacting the local media for the event as well as MadRock for schwag. I talked to the Manager of The Rock and we are both excited about this and want to make it "THE" annual rockclimbing event for the springs. Ideas are welcome. We have 30 members not including wifes and kids we need the biggest showing ever for this event. The time is now to get the CSRockRatz noticed in the climbing community.

I never said I was going to go shirtless!! WOW!! ROFLMAO!!! Besides, I like to touch them - all the time, whether or not I have a shirt on.

Is that comment going to get me into trouble?

Someday I hope to be the person my dogs think I am!
