Groups: The Traveling Climber

Hi Guys & Girls
Well it looks like another damp weekend in the UK,if any of you have seen the news most of the country is underwater or soon will be!Thinking of selling my cam collection on ebay and buying a canadian canoe.Only joking though i do fancy a canoe for none climbing days.
To think I went to Spain in Feb to get in shape for a hard summers climbing now summer is here its wet.
Managed a evening this week with a old friend did a climb i had alternated leads on when i first started & struggled on this pitch even asked for a tight rope, this time I lead it it didnt even feel steep so some progress has been made, only did 1 route which was a bit of a let down as my partner bailed out doing a second route & i had driven a longway so was a bit miffed. But every cloud has a silver lining went to the local pub,do you guys call them pubs or bars? There is allways a great pub near a great crag in the lakes to end the day so if anyone ever wants a guided tour let me know.
Met the lakes most famous climber had spoken to him before on the phone about going out climbing but hadnt met him so perfect end to a day just need a dry spell now so i can see him in action.
Will keep you all posted.
Si

Oh man, I feel your pain. Here in the southwest we've had NO rain but temps as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit...WAY to warm for climbing. Hope it let's up for you soon.

We have been quite lucky compared to the rest of the country were not flooded out like alot of peoples houses are.
And alot of the rock does dry very fast just could do with a total week of dry weather last summer when i started climbing it got hotter and hotter got sunstroke third time i went out this summer its do i dig out my winter gear or not.
Oh well spain in October as long as it doesnt rain there!

Thats true & has been a port of call in the past but if you knew the pubs in Grange you be t total.
They call Grange "gods resting home" its a old victorian seaside town so now is full of retirement homes care homes 4000 people 2 pubs and one is a total dump & the price of beer!!!
Will just have to try and paint my way out of this place im working on the masterplan right now.

all I've heard about is the rain there lately. American friend living in London has been suffereing the same. She is off in Austria these weeks to escape, and enjoying a hike of the Schneerhorn' or something like that by now. When she gets back, I'm sure it's back to the pubs for weekend fun once again.

Well its not as bad as London they deserve all the rain they get everyone in the lakes thinks its funny. They complain it always rains in the lakes well now they have lakes everywhere themselves.
The lakes hasnt really flooded then again we dont build houses on flood plains,So we can still get out climbing just have to be more choosy with where to climb more low level rather than up in the mountains.
