Posted by ClimbingNarc on 5/8/2008 on ClimbingNarc's blog

It has been a week or two of good videos over at the Momentum Video Magazine…if you are a premium subscriber:

Going back to last week, there was some renewed buzz about James Litz’s unrepeated V14ish problem Warpath at the City Of Rocks, ID when Ty Landman and Jamie Emerson paid a visit. Ty put [...]

Time to throw away your Nalgene bottles

Posted by tmarkiewicz on 5/8/2008 on tmarkiewicz's blog

There’s been numerous articles recently written on the problems that have surfaced regarding Nalgene bottles. Since most climbers own one of these, I decided to look into what is actually going on.
I was in the REI in Bailey’s Crossroads, Virginia recently and I didn’t see a single Nalgene bottle on the shelves. A foreboding sign [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Time to throw away your Nalgene bottles", url: "http://www.allclimbing.com/archive/2008/05/time-to-throw-away-your-nalgene-bottles/" });

Slowly Trudging On!

Posted by alpinerack on 5/8/2008 on alpinerack's blog

Some people are just amazing! Others, not so much. A huge thanks go out to Armida (who helped me out at the last Safeco game), Sheri and Leizle for working another game for me! We all worked at Safeco on May 6th as the Mariners got there ass kicked! I think it was like 10-1 for Texas. We had a good time as it was not as busy as the first game we worked so we could actually chat a bit. I'malpineracknoreply@blogger.com

Outdoor clothing store Nau closes

Posted by tmarkiewicz on 5/7/2008 on tmarkiewicz's blog

I was introduced to Nau by Andrew Hyde during my trip to Boulder in March. During a brief chat at the TechStars office, Andrew recommended I stop by the Nau store in Boulder before leaving. He praised the quality of their sustainable clothing and fact that the company was founded by former Patagonia employees. So [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Outdoor clothing store Nau closes", url: "http://www.allclimbing.com/archive/2008/05/outdoor-clothing-store-nau-closes/" });

35 RMNP Bouldering Videos To Increase Psych For Upcoming Park Season

Posted by ClimbingNarc on 5/6/2008 on ClimbingNarc's blog

The 2007 Summer bouldering season in Rocky Mountain National Park was one that will undoubtedly be looked back on as one of the most prolific in the short history of bouldering in the Park.  By my unofficial count there were at least 7 V11 or harder new problems established and over 30 repeats of [...]

Gear Review: Revolution Uzi Crash Pad

Posted by tmarkiewicz on 5/3/2008 on tmarkiewicz's blog

I’m a firm believer that a serious boulderer needs three types of crash pads. First, there’s the all around workhorse crash pad. At a standard size of about 40? by 50? feet, this pad will take care of the vast majority of your bouldering needs. Most crash pad models fall into this category and you [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Gear Review: Revolution Uzi Crash Pad", url: "http://www.allclimbing.com/archive/2008/05/gear-review-revolution-uzi-crash-pad/" });

Whipper Night…Unsafely?

Posted by ClimbingNarc on 5/2/2008 on ClimbingNarc's blog

With last night being whipper night at team (sorry Tony) the below video that I found at the newly redesigned Splitter Choss Blog seems especially pertinent.  The video demonstrates 3 techniques that are used when belaying with a Petzl Gri-Gri.  The first 2 methods are good, the 3rd is apparently bad.

Last night was the [...]
